GEM Program

We are  thrilled to introduce our new WLL Global Education Model (GEM) Program. The Why Learn Languages (WLL) is seeking to identify and publicly recognize excellent world language programs across the Pacific Northwest Region. All middle and high schools (public, private, charter) that apply and meet the criteria will receive an award and will be featured on the WLL website  and in our publications. Exemplary world language programs are recognized at four levels: Diamond, Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald. Up to THREE awardees each year.

Emerald Award: The students of this program have participated in the annual “Why Learn Languages” Competition for THREE consecutive years and have had at least one winner in any of the first, second, or third places categories. The winning program will receive $100.

Sapphire Award: The students of this program have participated in the annual “Why Learn Languages” Competition for FIVE consecutive years and have had at least three winners in any of the first, second, or third places categories. The winning program will receive $300.

 

Ruby Award: The students of this program have participated in the annual “Why Learn Languages” Competition for SEVEN consecutive years and have had at least five winners in any of the first, second, or third places categories. The winning program will receive $500.

 

Diamond Award: The students of this program have participated in the annual “Why Learn Languages” Competition for TEN consecutive years and have had at least seven winners in any of the first, second, or third places categories. The winning program will receive $800.

The qualified candidates will receive an email invitation to apply for this award
